Small business sales in the U.S. jumped more than three percent in 2011, according to BizBuySell. This comes after a similar rise of about three percent between 2009 and 2010, continuing a slow but steady growth trend for two straight years.

Meanwhile, small business sale prices in the Denver area rose almost 11 percent in 2011, climbing from a median of $150,000 to over $166,000. Of the completed transactions last year, buyers paid, on average, 91 percent of the seller’s asking price.

Although economic recovery has come at a slow pace, we continue to see steady improvements in the market. It’s a good sign for small business owners, as economists predict a continued, slow growth throughout 2012.
