According to a recently published article in the Denver Post, Colorado was the third leading state for private equity and growth capital investment value in 2012.
Data provided by the Private Equity Growth Capital Council states that $347 billion dollars was invested from private equity and growth capital into more than 2,000 U.S. based companies in 2012. The report also found that private equity firms invested $26.8 billion in 67 Colorado based companies (7.7% of total U.S. Private Equity Investment).
Additionally, the “Private Equity: Top States and Districts” analysis showed that there are 498 private equity backed companies in Colorado, which support more than 124,810 workers. The report also revealed that Colorado ranked ninth in the number of private equity investments. These private equity firms have invested an estimated $116.2 billion in Colorado-based companies during 2003-2012.
