Hiring Survey – Q4 2011

Thanks again to those that participated in the survey and contributed to the production of meaningful results.

 Q4 2011 Theme – “Decisive Optimism”

Based on survey results, SDR notes continued optimism amongst our clients and contacts.  Just 12 months after posting our previous hiring survey, we see a jump from 75.9% to 79.0% of respondents planning to hire.  Also of note, the number of indecisive respondents is nearly halved as SDR’s clients and contacts demonstrate their decisiveness headed into 2012.

Interestingly, last quarter’s political poll showed that nearly 41% of respondents cited that political uncertainty was preventing them from growing. Such conflicting responses lead us to believe one of two things:

  1. Political and regulatory uncertainty has been nearly eradicated in the last 3 months.

or

  1. SDR clients and contacts are growing despite continued political and regulatory uncertainty.

Based anecdotally on the recent performance and outlook expressed by our clients, we’re leaning towards the latter.  If Washington could lift the veil of uncertainty, perhaps the lower-middle market could lift the employment rate.
