This December, 15 members of the SDR team, along with some friends and family, swapped our button-downs for blue jeans for a great day of volunteering. For the second straight year, SDR helped package and ship shoeboxes full of toys, clothing, candy, soap, toothpaste and more for children around the world who need it the most.
Since its inception in 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 135 million shoeboxes full of gifts to more than 150 countries. Operation Christmas Child plans to deliver 12 million shoeboxes in 2016 alone, and the project relies on more than 500,000 volunteers worldwide. Denver’s regional processing center, where SDR volunteered, is on track to send out over 825,000 shoeboxes this year. Without a doubt, we were more than happy to lend a hand to such a worthy cause, and getting out and about together as a team was an added bonus!
Please enjoy a collection of photos from the day, including the team hard at work and a friendly rivalry that developed between one half of the SDR team, in Row 12, and the other half, in Row 14, to see who could fit the most shoeboxes into a shipping box and create a “perfect box.” Happy Holidays from all of us at SDR Ventures!
