According to a recent article in the Private Equity Analyst and on, pet consumer product deals are in high demand from private equity firms, but are becoming increasingly hard to find.

One such deal, the July 2014 sale of all natural dog-treat maker Cloud Star Corp., drew considerable attention and premium purchase-price multiples.

But even though 2014 is expected to beat out 2013 in the number of pet-related transactions, the demand is still outshining the number of viable targets. Simply put, many pet-industry companies have yet to reach a scale that makes them desirable for investment or acquisition.
