Stock Market Poll Results – Q4 2013

A big thank you goes out to all those that participated in the survey and contributed to the production of meaningful results.

Q4 2013 Theme – “Surge in Optimism”

SDR’s clients and contacts believe that 2014 is going to be a good year for the stock market, with over 75% indicating that they believe the stock market will end near 2013 levels or above.  Actually, SDR contacts are very positive for the future, with over 49% of all respondents believing that levels will surpass the 2013 record breaking levels.

SDR contacts are not alone in their optimism, as many financial professionals were encouraged by the 2013 growth, but many American’s are not as hopeful for 2014.  A recent poll conducted by CNBC stated “Of the people polled, 40 percent think the market will stabilize where it is now by the end of 2014, with 39 percent predicting that it will drop, but not crash. Only 14 percent believe the market will rise and 5 percent think it will crash.”

These lackluster responses may be due to the fact that global growth has slowed slightly from 2012, and that the economy has been slow to recovery from the 2008 financial meltdown.  Or maybe people are still gun-shy about fully jumping back into the market and investing. Whatever the reason, SDR contacts don’t seem to have the same apprehensions and are optimistic for what the new year has in store for the market.
